Rebecca Minkoff's trendy handbags are a sidewalk fashion staple (her semi-annual sample sale, for example, has been known to draw serious crowds) and a veritable goldmine for mega-retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue. It's no surprise, then, that the chain requested the designer create an even higher-end collection exclusively for their stores.
Launching this week, the simply-titled Rebecca Minkoff Collection will consist of familliar Minkoff handbag shapes updated with ritzy accents, like rose gold hardware and luxe calfskin leathers. We're especially loving the simple brown clutch with python trim and big geometric buckle. Of course, customers will pay for the upgrade: typical Minkoff prices range from $195 to $695, but the new line cranks up to $2000.
Minkoff will be touring eight Saks locations in the next two and a half weeks to promote the new collection, meeting fans and even autographing bags on request. You can read up on her travels and design inspiration on her blog, www.minkette.com,
