Rag & Bone Rumored to Be Moving Into Old Cafe Colonial Space

Nolita eatery Cafe Colonial closed its doors in May, sparking a flutter of rumors on what might replace the sixteen-year veteran. Now reports are circulating that a Rag & Bone boutique may in the works.

Neighborhood blog Bowery Boogie spotted the papered-over windows over the weekend and took the trouble to ask some of the workers on site what was coming in and, lo and behold, it seems that Rag & Bone may be moving into the place (and the renovations have begun in earnest).

This news would dovetail nicely with an errant tweet we'd spotted from Style.com, which reported that recent CFDA winners Rag & Bone would be opening not one but two boutiques in July -- "both next door to Pulino's." The July timetable and location would seem to verify Bowery Boogie's report (Pulino's is, indeed, just down the block from the 73 East Houston address that used to house Cafe Colonial), though we'd be interested to see what second location Style.com's report might be referring to. In the meantime, it sounds like Rag & Bone is plotting some serious expansion -- the label's first store opened its first outpost on Christopher Street back in 2008.
