Rad Hourani: Black on Black on Black

Rad Hourani's fall 2010 collection followed suit with the designer's streamlined, androgynous and, most common look, black on black on everything, from leather to wool.

Girls and boys get similar treatment for fall, with Hourani delving into the layering trend with a unique criss-cross pattern that somehow unites external pockets, funnel necks and backpacks into a single cohesive piece.  The bandage leather pants carried on the motif that also popped up on coat sleeves and hip details.  A richly varied spectrum of materials made the seriously tough line interesting, mixing up spandex, patent leather, matte leather, wool and sparkles.

The audience was as impossibly cool as the clothes, with Leigh Lezark and her Misshape pals in the front row, and plenty of fashion characters from men in skirts and teensy things in towering moon boots to one dude wearing what appeared to be an old-fashioned English constable costume.

We left feeling good.
