Rachel Zoe's First Full Collection is Surprisingly Tailored and Chic

Still a force to be reckoned with at seven-months' pregnant, Rachel Zoe revealed her contemporary line of dresses, trousers and tailored separates, as well as outerwear, handbags and shoes to WWD yesterday.

Besides revealing that she's having a boy, Zoe will likely surprise her critics with the aesthetic of the collection, which features crisply tailored jackets and shift dresses -- a bit of a departure from her personal style of billowing bohemian luxe. As Zoe told WWD:

I’d imagine everybody is expecting something from me that’s kind of a Seventies, uberboho-glam kind of thing, and, you know, very accessorized. And it’s not.

The collection reflects a '70s influence -- leisure suits, jumpsuits, blazers and flared trousers -- as well as Zoe's flair for ornamental, sometimes opulent dressing in the Lurex, faux fur, and sequin details.

While retailers have not yet been confirmed, the pricing indicates the the line will be positioned among other mid-range labels: $250 for dresses and $700 for suit. On the accessories front, the extensive collection includes handbags, sky-high platform suede boots, and matte croc-embossed pumps, with flats and riding boots promised to follow.

In sad tidings for fans of Zoe's signature smile and charismatic presence at the runway shows, it seems that pregnancy will keep Zoe in LA for the Fall 2011 season. Fans will instead have to tune in to the latest season of The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo for details on the introduction of Zoe's new assistant and Brad Goreski replacement, Mandana.
