Opening Report: End of Century

End of Century should have no trouble holding its own on the LES. As the newest addition to the neighborhood's chockablock roster of impossibly hip boutiques, the store, which opened its doors last night, features an appropriately-curated selection of clothing by indie labels such as Samantha Pleet, Gretchen Mongrain, Tar & Feather, and Wrkroom, as well as a few vintage gems—all hanging on racks fashioned from birch branches and wire.

An ever-changing assortment of vintage furniture and curios which co-owners Lara Hodulick and Chantal Chadwick source from attics and flea markets is scattered throughout the petite space, while the walls, currently decorated with digital collage prints by artist Martyna Szcz will play gallery to various local talents.

A jewelry case displays Martine Ali's unforgettable hardware-inspired cuffs embedded with screws, studs and bolts, alongside our favorite new find: talon-like rings by up-and-comer Dilan Walpola. The u-shaped rings slide in between two fingers (rather than around) and halfway up your hand for a totally gutsy, totally bewitching effect.

End of Century is located at 175 Rivington Street.
