Five Things You Didn't Know About L'Wren Scott

This morning, fashion designer (and Mick Jagger paramour) L'Wren Scott unveiled an exclusives bag label, Lula, at Barneys New York.

HER MOM'S CONNECTION TO HER BAGS: For Scott's new collection of bags, everything from the looks to the "snap" closure sounds were inspired my memories of her mom.

HER HEIGHT:
The former model stands at 6'3' with no shoes on. (Wikipedia lists her at 6'5'')

HER "HUMBLE" RUNWAY BEGINNINGS: Scott couldn't afford to go to fashion school and her parents didn't find it a worthwhile investment. While modeling in her earlier years, she spent her off-the-runway hours with the fitters and alterations crew, teaching herself the craft. ("I wasn't really good at being objectified," said Scott.)

HER HOLLYWOOD RESUME:
Scott was the Academy Awards' first fashion director. She consulted on Ellen Barkin's fuschia cougar costuming for the movie Ocean's 13. She's also worked and modeled for Thierry Mugler.

THE OPRAH EFFECT: Winfrey wore a custom-made design for her finale episode. Most people don't know that Scott had no idea that it would make the blockbuster finale. ("I sent the clothes in months before the taping and months later, was in London when I got the call that she was on stage wearing my dress. I was in tears."
