Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy access -- and that seems to be what shoppers most covet these days. Enter: Moxsie First, which offers first dibs on the good stuff.
To become a member of the advance-access website, sign up here. At first glance, it seems to be much in the vein of a Gilt Groupe, etc. By signing up, users are promised exclusive Moxsie previews and sneak-peek-with-option-to-buy specials on indie and high fashion designers alike. However, the actual premise of the site is a bit different: Instead of offering customers past-season items at sample sale prices, Moxsie offers its users the chance to get a first pass on full-price items about to hit stores.
Thus far, it looks like the wares on Moxsie are as indie-driven as promised -- currently on offer are Dolce Vita dresses and Generic Surplus sneakers, for example. As such, it seems less tantalizing than, say, having gotten an advance sale on Proenza Schouler's much-coveted silk tie-dye tanks or Alexander Wang's Coco Duffel. Hopefully that's in the cards.
