Marc by Marc Jacobs is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special capsule collection of reissued looks from the past decade in time for Spring 2011.
Marc Jacobs has truly been one of the great fashion innovators in fashion's history: Even beyond his design ability, he's always been at the forefront of retail. Case in point, his decision to launch a Marc by Marc Jacobs contemporary collection -- a lower-priced, edgier counterpart to the LVMH-owned main collection -- back in 2001, at a time when other high fashion lines were not necessarily embracing the idea. It's only fitting, then, that to celebrate its 10th birthday, the company has come up with something new: a commemorative collection, (a greatest hits, of sorts), which will bring back classic favorites from the seasons since its inception in 2001.
From the debut collection's undertones of 90s grunge sensibilities, through the emo-chic and lo-fi goodness of the aughts, spring will bring the chance to get at the iconic goods once again. We can only hope this is yet another concept that several other designers plan to emulate as well.
