Legal Analyst Dan Abrams Launches Style Site

When we first heard this news, we momentarily paused, thinking there might be some other Dan Abrams in the fashion world we somehow hadn't heard of -- but, no.  The NBC legal analyst has just launched the latest web site in his growing online portfolio, Styleite.com, which goes live March 15.

Since July of last year, Abrams has founded Mediaite.com, GossipCop.com and GeekoSystem.com, and is now broaching the fashion world with Styleite.  The primary goal lies in a sophisticated home page and technologically advanced platform for fashion and style editorial, in addition to columns and interactive features.  Style Sheets allows users submit photos in their favorite outfits and then tag by brand and style of each item, allowing other users to then search an item and see it on different people.  The Power Grid uses an algorithm to maintain a running tally of about 3,000 players in the fashion industry, including models, designers, photographers, editors, stylists and personal style bloggers.

While Abrams will sit at the top of the stack as founder and publisher, as he has done with all his outlets, he leaves the editorial to editor-in-chief Verena von Pfetten -- senior editor at Air America Media and formerly of The Huffington Post -- and his former assistant, Ruthie Friedlander as senior editor.  According to Abrams, an e-commerce component -- which has been developing into a must for such outlets -- is being actively explored, though nothing official has been named.

While style-based sites are popping up on the Internet like wildflowers, Styleite aims to make superior technology their calling card, citing a slight lag in the existing offerings.
