U.K. shop Whistles has its sights set on international growth -- to the U.S. in particular -- after experiencing a surge in sales, fueled by Kate Middleton's promotion of the brand.
Having worn a cream-colored Whistles blouse in her official engagement photos, the Duchess of Cambridge has helped boost business 13 percent in the fiscal year 2010-2011, WWD reports.
"The brand has also developed a significant international profile this year, and we are now actively investigating further opportunities around the world,” CEO Jane Sheperdson told the daily, adding that four Whistles stores will be opened before Christmas this year.
New York would be a likely landing spot for the British import, having provided a good testing ground for similar imports like Topshop. If that's the case, and if the brand's timetable is as aggressive as the CEO implied, one could expect ground to be broken on the new shop fairly quickly.
