Karl Lagerfeld Sightings on Fashion's Night Out Likely

In a move with brilliant timing, the Museum at FIT will award Karl Lagerfeld with a special award on September 10, making some fashion week and fashion's night out appearances more than likely.

In addition to presenting the Chanel maestro with a Fashion Visionary Award, the Museum at FIT will also host Lagerfeld at its annual benefit luncheon on the 10th. Needless to say, the organization is just glowing about getting Kaiser Karl in the flesh: As Musuem director Valerie Steele gushed to WWD: "He is not just incredibly respected within the fashion world, but also known to everybody and instantly recognizable."

His cult fandom here in the city was on full display when he popped up downtown last month to shoot Chanel's campaign, sending the city's fashion bloggers into an outright tizzy -- sending reports from Soho and pictures from the Lower East Side.  Even street style photographer Garance Dore couldn't resist snapping her own candid of Lagerfeld -- from behind.

Needless to say, should Karl Lagerfeld's signature white mane be spotted on the streets of the city during Fashion's Night Out, there might be outright mob scenes. What's more, we'd be highly interested to see what runway shows he decided to attend, should he decide to participate in the city's Fashion Week melee.
