Jessica Simpson Launches Denim Line

Down-home girl and apparent NKOTB fan Jessica Simpson launched her newest fashion venture, a line of denim set to hit 1,000 stores next month.

WWD places the pop tart turned megabrand in the billion-dollar range for her shoes-and-accessories empire licenced by the Camuto Group, and her latest deal with Jones Apparel Group on a collection of denim marks Simpson's 19th licensing deal.  Cumulatively, Simpson has successfully parlayed her own country-casual bombshell image (a given for denim, in particular), on shoes, handbags, fragrance, accessories, swimwear, luggage, outerwear, dresses, intimates and more.

At first glance, her new demin line doesn't look half bad, and if it follows in the footsteps of her surprisingly chic shoes (not to sound cruel, but we are truly surprised), should produce some nicely affordable hits.

Simpson has had a rocky history with her jeans, having been sued over a failed licensing deal over promotional and contractual obligations between Camuto and Tarrant Apparel Group, and of course, being unfairly and unflatteringly snapped in those infamous "mom jeans" -- hopefully this new line marks an uptick in the denim department for Ms. Simpson.
