Though he's no new kid on the block, Jonathan Saunders is clearly having a moment. Last week the London-based Scottish designer was announced as one of eight finalists for the 2011 BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Prize, a nomination that included Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoli, Nicholas Kirkwood and Peter Pilotto. In addition to the prestige and attention of just being shortlisted, Saunders stands to win £200,000 (approximately $300,000) and a year of mentoring, when the winner is chosen next spring.
At about that same time next year, Saunders will be readying his newly-announced special capsule collection for Escada which will debut in stores sometime next November. The offering will be part of the resort 2012 collection for the brand's Escada Sport label, which will include 20 various pieces of apparel, including leather accessories, WWD reports.
