Gap's Newest Bottoms Venture: Premium Pants

Having blown out its commitment to denim last year with an extensive new collection and stand-alone stores, Gap is now moving on to Premium Pants for men (debuting February 2011) and women (September 2010): tailored dress pants for work and such.

The women's line of seven styles includes a trend-skewing boyish trouser, Really Skinny and Curvy cuts, flare-leg trousers and more. Creative Director Patrick Robinson sought to produce a line that looked significantly more expensive than the $49.50-$59.50 price range (we certainly like that goal), with attention to tailoring, fabric and Gap's signature knack for practical wearability.

The women's pants are being shown with Pierre Hardy for Gap peep-toe wedges (which we hope to actually be able to find in stores next season!) and rolled cuffs, pretty much proving that chic dress pants are back. Our only complaint is the name -- alas, the word "premium" never struck us as terribly fetching.
