Diane von Furstenberg Fetes New Gap Kids Line, Set to Launch March 15

    Following in the footsteps of designers like Stella McCartney (whose own Gap Kids collection was so good, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy wore one of the jackets for a concert), wrap dress maven Diane von Furstenberg is set to unveil her new collaboration with Gap Kids.

    The collection was first reported last spring, and now is set to debut in Gap stores and online on March 15, according to Style.com.

    The designer opted to host a fete for the line in Los Angeles, where celebrities like Milla Jovovich, Molly Sims, Busy Phillips, and Kate Capshaw joined the designer (as well as their own kids, in most intances) in sampling a first glimpse of the line, which centers on the designer's vivid prints. According to previous reports, the line will include items for babies up to age two, as well as kids from 2-14 -- though for girls only.

    In addition to graphic patterns and bright colors which look perfect for the season, the collection does, in fact, feature kid-size wrap dresses -- for those who want the full DVF experience for their daughters.

    Von Furstenberg has always had a knack for tapping into new retail markets at just the right time -- including China -- and is now joining the growing ranks of a group of designers targeting the younger retail demographic with both high-end children's wear and kids' collaborations. Should DVF's Gap Kids debut prove successful, we'd wager the designer may consider adding a more permanent kids' component to her own line.
