Jade Lai Designs First In-House Collection for Creatures of Comfort

This fall, on the site of a defunct police precinct, hip Angeleno boutique, Creatures of Comfort, will open its doors on the Lower East Side, supplying New Yorkers with a fresh supply of brands like Alexander Wang, Bibi Ghost and Common Projects. Just in time for her bicoastal opening, owner/designer Jade Lai has created the shop's first-ever house collection, consisting of long silhouettes and vintage-inspired separates.

The new collection--which we got a quick glimpse of via Style.com--balances classic, minimalist shapes and trend accents, like stripes and flouncy tunic tops. We're feeling the long maxi dress in white and black with a single pleat in the front, as well as a soft cotton crop top with long sleeves.

No doubt, the house brand will further the "lifestyle" vision that Lai has in mind for her boutique. The new shop will carry books, housewares and men's apparel in addiiton to its roster of buzz-worthy brands like Isabel Marant and Rachel Comey. In lieu of the store's opening on this coast, shop online at www.creaturesofcomfort.us.
