Collina Strada's Eco-Chic Handbags

Hillary Taymour of LA-based label, Collina Strada, knows that it ain't easy being green. Her collection of mostly eco-handbags boasts 100% organic canvas and soft, vegetable-dyed leather sourced from a tannery that uses all parts of the animal. Hey, we'll take "mostly" environmentally friendly accessories over "not even close" any day.

Taymour founded Collina Strada--which translates to "hill road" in Italian--as a pet project for her friends, crafting vintage-inspired handbags with modern accents, like her signature leather layering technique (that looks a little like the plates on an armadillo). Her current collection includes eveything from the perfect backpack in tobacco leather to understated bucketbags, satchels and clutches.  Each piece seems destined for daily use, and, we have a sneaky suspicion, will only look better the worse you treat it.

Taymour's current collection is carried at the mega-hip EVA boutique on Bowery between 3rd and 4th. Be sure to check out the store's  tough-to-find labels like Henrik Vibskov and Rachel Antonoff, which, happily, are currently on mark down for an epic summer sale.
