Clippings: New Editor-in-Chief of W Expected to Be Named This Week

- Speculation over who will take the reigns at W has captured the imagination of editors both in print and online, for a number of very good reasons. First off, W is one of those beloved, massive glossies that hasn't been doing all that well, ad-wise, and could likely use a rejuvenating boost. Also, the contendors for said position range from Elle's Joe Zee to French Vogue's Carine Roitfeld to the most likely candidate (according to a number of sources), T Magazine's Stefano Tonchi. Needless to say, if any one of these A-listers took the top spot, there'd be a fantastic domino effect of restructuring at the publications left behind -- and those kind of power positions open up very rarely. - In other glossy news, Vice Magazine appears to be one of the few actually thriving during the recession. They'll be expanding 3,500 square feet to the office's massive duplex loft in -- where else -- Williamsburg. [New York Post]

- In The New Yorker's latest style issue, Alexandra Jacobs dissects the phonomenon that is Polyvore, while Rebecca Mead profiles designer Brunello Cucinelli, a.k.a. "The Prince of Solomeo." [The New Yorker]

- Anyone who ever dreamed of owning a picture of Angelina Jolie modeling at age 15 will get their wish on Friday, when pictures that Harry Langdon took of the young starlet will go up for sale. (There'll also be pictures of Kirsten Dunst, Drew Barrymore, and Sarah Jessica Parker, for anyone who's interested in those.) [Vogue UK]
