Barneys Taps Amanda Brooks as New Fashion Director

Ending weeks of speculation, the cult department store has completed its massive staffing shakeup by tapping Amanda Brooks as its new fashion director.

Brooks was, up until recently, the director of fashion at the William Morris agency, and has served as the creative director for Hogan and Tuleh in addition to contributing to Vogue, Men's Vogue, and The New York Times. She's also the author of a book called "I Love Your Style: How to Define and Refine Your Fashion Style."

In a press release, Brooks says: "I have been a fan of Barneys since I was 12 years old, when my mother took me to the opening of the women's store on 17th Street in 1986 ... To be the Women's Fashion Director of a store with such a unique and inspiring vision is my dream job."

Naturally, more than a few stylish ladies could likely say the same, but it will be interesting to see how Brooks will steer the ship in the wake of the departure of the long-serving former director, Julie Gilhart.
