Balenciaga Signs Kristen Stewart as the Face of New Fragrance

Since catapulting to stardom as brooding teen Bella Swan in "Twilight," Kristen Stewart has caught the eye of a number of fashion brands -- most notably Proenza Schouler, which has dressed her on several occasions, including her Vogue cover. Now, the actress has landed her first major fashion campaign as the new face of Balenciaga's as-yet-unannounced scent.

Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquière told WWD that Stewart was the muse for the new scent, which is set to launch in the fall. "Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence," Ghesquière told the daily, adding that the star "shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga."

The house launched its first scent, Balenciaga Paris, back in 2010, using Charlotte Gainsbourg, who will reportedly remain the face of that fragrance. Stewart, it seems, represents the label's younger, more rebellious iteration. Speaking of her interest in the fragrance, Stewart gave WWD a take on the brand that seems like it could have come straight out of Bella Swan's mouth: "[Balenciaga] is just cool."

Needless to say, the partnership is likely to be a boon for both sides: Balenciaga will benefit from riding the "Twilight" wave at its zenith -- "Breaking Dawn, Part II" is yet to be released -- in addition to Stewart's other projects like "Snow White and the Huntsman," and "The Road." Stewart, on the other hand, will make her first major debut as the face of a big fashion brand, proving she's got the chops to pull off more lucrative deals.
