Art Group BOFFO Overspent on Nicola Formichetti Pop-Up by $30,000

In September, Nicola Formichetti debuted a dazzling pop-up store in Tribeca with an art group called BOFFO as part of its Building Fashion series. Unfortunately, it turns out the store was a little too dazzling, and a last-minute change of venue apparently pushed their budget about $30,000 over what they had initially intended to spend. In an interview with DNAInfo, BOFFO's co-founder, Faris Al-Shathir, said that the group was "in a predicament."

Now, the group is trying to raise $20,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to ensure the group can follow through on promises to stage two more shopping events -- one with The Lake & Stars and one with Ohne Titel. The organizers told Racked NY

As a young arts organization we have learned a great deal in the past few years. The expenses incurred for the Nicola Formichetti project were unexpected. Unfortunately, we had no way to prepare for these unexpected expenses and our funding was completely accounted for.

Anyone who visited the Formichetti pop-up (and the others staged since then) can attest to the fact that it was a pretty amazing scene. Those looking to support the project can donate on Kickstarter, where the group has already raised close to $8,000.
