Isabel and husband Ruben Toledo have created a swimwear line for Target in conjunction with the chain's first Manhattan-based store, opening July 25 in Harlem.
Fashionista offered up a sneak peek of the images (more here) of the bathing suits, which will appear in the mammoth store later this month alongside designer Stephen Burrows' clothing and chef Marcus Samuelsson's home collections. All three lines will donate five percent of sales to a Harlem non-profit organization—in the Toledos' case, El Museo de Barrio Latin American cultural center and museum.
Isabel Toledo shot to fame after First Lady Michelle Obama wore a chartreuse dress and coat by the designer to her husband's inauguration last year, and she was recently showcased in a retrospective at FIT.
The joint-venture with Target marks the designer's first foray into mass fashion. We think her bold designs will be a perfect fit for the neighborhood. And at price points maxing out at $35, we can't wait to get our hands on these goodies.
