To ring in the magic of couture week and raise money for breast cancer research, Swarovski has teamed up with a battalion of fine designers on custom-decorated LBDs incorporating the crystal, to be presented January 27 in Paris, before traveling to Beijing and ending up on the Phillips de Pury auction block in NYC this fall.
Officially known as Crystallized Ways to Say Black, Swarovski will unveil a line-up of little black dresses using Crystallized-Swarovski Elements from designers Alberta Ferretti, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexis Mabille, Azzaro, Boudicca, Catherine Malandrino, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Fendi, Gaspard Yurkievich, Gianfranco Ferré, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Marios Schwab, Martin Grant, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel, Thakoon, Valentino and Vivienne Westwood.
The parade of gowns will be on public display the day following, before the exhibition gets packed up and taken to Beijing and then finally, flown in to NYC to be auctioned off for charity at Phillips de Pury auction house in the fall. Auction proceeds and catalogue sales will benefit the League Against Cancer and the American Cancer Society.
