Sonia Rykiel to Design for H&M

In an announcement that elicited swoons from every indie gal in the city, H&M revealed that cult French designer Sonia Rykiel will be the next guest designer for the affordable mega-chain.

Rykiel, who is revered among the downtown stylish set for her colorful knitwear and cool Parisian style, will design exclusive lingerie for the holiday season -- the first lingerie H&M has ever offered -- launching December 5.

Rykiel enthusiasts will have to wait until February 2010, alas, for the designer's complete collection of gorgeous knits to hit 250 H&M stores, accompanied by accessories.
