After the announcement of the departure of Zac Posen creative director Karen Duffy last week, the company is rumored to be bracing itself for further cuts. Ditto, it's being said, for Gucci.
Not shockingly, the tightening of the economy has affected the fashion industry, both in rents and now, personnel. Duffy was replaced last week by Posen's mother, Susan and PR director Alexandra Smith, and Gatecrasher is reporting on an anonymous source that foresees more layoffs are "pending" at the house. Gatecrasher also heard the same about Gucci, although no one from the company could be reached for comment.
And, alas, this buzz follows the sad news that Brit brand Luella's backers backed out. As we've witnessed media crumble, we certainly hope fashion's downfall doesn't get as bloody.
