Recession Special: Sell Your Jewelry

Maybe it was a gift from an ex that you just don't want to think about anymore. Maybe it's a family heirloom that you secretly wished was a car instead. Whatever the reason, if you've got precious baubles, Circa Jewelry will buy them.

In a recent profile in W, Circa founder Chris Del Gatto revealed that reporters were actually camped out outside the company's Palm Beach offices after the Madoff scandal broke -- so let that be recommendation enough that the company means business.

Here's how it works: You call to make an appointment (877-876-5493), and then you stop by one of Circa's local outposts to have someone evaluate your glittering wares (in New York, Circa's at 415 Madison Avenue, 15th floor). What's selling, of course, is "signed jewelry" from top names like Tiffany, Cartier, David Yurman, etc. Insists Del Gatto: "There's still a consumer who's buying jewelry, but they're more brand-conscious." Something to bear in mind when you start thinking about selling!
