Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra Among 2010 Ecco Domani Winners

The Ecco Domani foundation knows how to kick off the new year right -- by highlighting six emerging fashion lines and rewarding them with a $25,000 paycheck to use toward their upcoming Fall 2010 collections in New York. Even better, the selected talents will also participate in a special Ecco Domani fashion show in New York on February 15.

Among the winners highlighted by the wine company's Fashion Foundation awards are rising stars Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra, who've already become red carpet favorites among the more fashion-forward Hollywood set. Gurung counts Demi Moore (shown here wearing the designer's signature feminine cocktail dresses), Leighton Meester, and Twilight star Ashley Greene among his fans, while range of stylish dames who've donned Altuzarra's figure-hugging dresses range from Vogue contributing editor Lauren Santo Domingo to Kim Kardashian.

Rounding out the winners in the women's category are Ross Manuez of Salvor Projects and Phillipe Rollano and David Trujillo of The Blonds. John Patrick of Organic got a nod for his work in sustainable design, while Irina Arakas of Prova won for accessories and Siki Im snapped up the men's design award.

The Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation is one outlet that's been consistently serving the interest of emerging designers, helping them get a leg up for the biggest events on the fashion calendar -- Fashion Week. Over the years, the foundation has tapped the likes of Vena Cava, Zac Posen, Rodarte, and Alexander Wang, which gives some idea of how successful they've been in picking winners.

We'll certainly be marking February 15 on our calendar to see all of the winners on one runway, and WWD reports that the show will be a part of an upcoming documentary about the EDFF, scheduled to appear on Lifetime sometime in March.
