Sander's much-anticipated "+J" collection for Uniqlo hits stores today, and judging by the amount of buzz within the fashion community, Soho residents should prepare for some seriously long lines on Broadway.
The minimalist-driven designer is a fantastic fit for the aesthetic of the Japanese mega-retailer, and the over-the-top (and, we'd like to remark, universal) enthusiasm about the upcoming collection has been so intense that, apparently, Uniqlo has restricted sales on the items -- which range from gorgeous trench wool coats for $149.50 to crisp tuxedo shirts for $39.50 -- to "one piece per garment style," essentially putting shoppers planning to unload tons of +J wares on eBay on notice.
UPDATE: The line to get into Uniqlo's Soho store stretches up to the Dean & Deluca on Prince Street, and strangely enough, the line is made up mostly of pretty well-dressed men. We can't say we're surprised, since Jil Sander's known for rather minimalist, dare we say unisex dressing -- and Uniqlo might even be more popular among men for its jeans and sweaters than women. Still. Men braving the cold for an AM sample sale is mighty impressive.
Uniqlo is located at 546 Broadway. Open 10AM-9PM.
