We're happy to report Jenni Kayne's temporary pop-up shop on Mercer St. is alive and well, set to begin a series of beauty nights in partnership with Beauty.com starting this Friday and continuing through the end of the year in Kayne's temporary NY digs. This Friday, Tarte Cosmetics are on deck- demonstrations and free samples luring shoppers away from Sephora on Broadway. The shop opened during fashion week when the line debuted Spring 2010 in the space at 85 Mercer.
Hopefully attendees of the beauty nights love filmy tee's, vintage jewelry and wooly boyfriend coats. And, more importantly, also have a bit of cash to burn while experimenting with cheek stain (careful with the nude colored silks, girls).
We paid a visit over the weekend and, not surpisingly, fell in love with several pieces including an extra long collared shirt that could double as a dress, a cropped leather jacket and brilliant blue heeled sandals. When we inquired about the future of a permanent Jenni Kayne store on the East Coast the company expressed excitement about the possibility of continuing it's tenancy though perhaps at another location.
Testing a retail model in the New York market has proven successful thus far. At only 27 years old, the designer's centrally located SoHo pop-up makes a strong case for: Good things can come out of economic duress.
Visit Friday between 2:00pm - 6:00pm for Tarte Cosmetic demonstrations and samples.
