Christian Louboutin Plays with Barbie

The designer unveils the hot pink heel he created for Barbie, as well as a "diary" of him in various situations with the doll -- from a red carpet event to a jewel heist. Oh, and he also clarifies that whole "ankle" comment. Sort of.

First of all, when we heard that Louboutin was going to design a series of Barbie dolls from head to toe, we didn't appreciate the the designer will also be acting a "godfather" to Barbie for the whole year. Apparently -- if the picture diary that's recently been released is any indication -- playing godfather entails things like taking Barbie to a red carpet premiere, helping Barbie steal jewels, spying on Barbie while she meets another man (who's NOT Ken, by the way), and also watching Barbie perform at the circus. All wearing Louboutins, of course.

The picture diary will be released starting in December with the unveiling of the jewel-heist Barbie, followed by a safari-themed Barbie in February and then a Cannes Film Festival Barbie in May. All the Barbies will be available for $150 on BarbieCollector.com as well as Net-a-Porter.com. If a Barbie isn't exactly what you want, you can purchase a set of 12 Barbie-sized Louboutins for $40, or the picture diary alone for $40.

And about that pesky ankles comment. Louboutin clarified his infamous "fat ankles" snafu with this slightly round-about statement to WWD: “Barbie’s foot has always been shaped less ‘curvy’ than the rest of her perfect body ... But fat ankles she didn’t have, she just could have had thinner ankles. That’s all."

So her ankles weren't fat, they just could have been thinner. We're not sure we get it, but then again, we'll still be lusting after Louboutin's heels regardless.
