Britain Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund Brings CFDA Mission Abroad

For the past five years, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has provided the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund to a succession of wildly successful young designers and now, the British Fashion Council is teaming with Vogue Fashion Fund on the U.K. version of the competition.

The eight UK-based designer finalists -- whose ranks include cult designers like Christopher Kane, Erdem, and Richard Nicoll -- are poised to win 200,000 pounds (about $320,000) and a year-long mentorship by an industry committee chaired by Harrod's fashion and beauty director Marigay McKee. British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman will join the judging panel and the winner will be revealed in the May issue of the magazine.

The BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund will also be an annual award -- an exciting prospect considering the likes of talent we've seen from the domestic awards (Sophie Theallet, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler and many more).
