One More Empty Store Front

Another chalk board, another empty piece of real estate.  One of the original eco-friendly and organic clothing shops in NY, Gominyc, is among those ending their retail tenures.  We came across this sign this weekend and our probing questions produced the following information: The lease is up at the end of this month and owner Anne Bernstein, who celebrated the store's 6 year anniversary in May, is not quite sure what will be coming next -- though with her forays in design (jewelry and handbags designed under her maiden name, Anne Hettinger) we're pretty sure we'll see her again.

Right now, eco-chic brands like Mociun, Bahar Shahpar, Feral Childe, Majestic, Species by the Thousands, Loomstate denim and Eairth are all available at steep discounts (and the stock is copious).  Even better, said discount being offered is highly incentivized: clothing is buy one item at 40 percent off, OR buy two or more items and the whole purchase is 60 percent off.  Jewelry, notebooks and apothecary are 30 percent off.

Gominyc is located at 443 East 6th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A
