"Sucker Punch" Getting 18 More Minutes, R Rating for Blu-ray Release
We were as stoked by the trailer for this film as we were disappointed by the final product. Can an extra 18 minutes of footage, including some R-rated material, make a difference? We'll find out on June 28 when the new version is included in the home video release.
The trailer for Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" made it pretty clear that the film was going to be a wee bit "out there," if you will. Now a new still has emerged that has raised the crazy bar for a film that's been described as "Alice in Wonderland" with machine guns.
As you can plainly see in the image just released on CruelFilms, Snyder's production company, it's a mid-air confrontation between a dragon and an airplane. OK, yes, it reminds us a bit of "Reign of Fire," but somehow hopes are decidedly higher for "Sucker Punch."
As a refresher, here's the "official synopsis":
“Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.
The film stars Emily Browning as Baby Doll, a young woman in the 1950s whose evil stepfather has her institutionalized and scheduled for a lobotomy. As near as we can tell, Baby Doll retreats into a fantasy word where she hones the skills she'll need to make a real-world escape.
