“Star Wars” 3D Screenings Bringing Bonus Swag to 8 Cities

If you thought the concept of all six "Star Wars" movies in 3D was strong enough to sell itself, you're probably right. But Lucasfilm is still going to take the opportunity to make sure the kick-off release of "The Phantom Menace" is an all-out event. And how will they do that? With swag, of course!

Early-adopting theater-goers attending special screenings in select theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Denver, and Phoenix will be handed a pair of Anakin Skywalker Podracer 3D glasses in lieu of the standard, cataracts glasses you get at typical Real3D screenings, and an exclusive Star Wars "Fighter Pods" collectible toy (please let it be Jek Porkins).

Additionally, theaters will be offering Darth Maul face-painting, character appearances (please let it be Jek Porkins), and demo kiosks of the upcoming Xbox Kinect "Star Wars" game. In other words, this is an all-in Star Wars-a-palooza, one that raises the question: What do they have planned for Episodes II through VI (coming out in 3D once a year for the next six years)? But the time "Return of the Jedi 3D" arrives, you'll likely get to watch it from Billy Dee Williams' lap.

These special screenings will start February 10th and run through the 12th. The 10 participating theaters are:

New York
AMC Empire 25
AMC Garden State 16

Los Angeles
AMC Tustin 14 at The District
