Spider-Man's Broadway Savior Penning “Carrie” Makeover, Heading to “Glee”

If Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is a good enough writer to save "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," then the "Carrie" remake and "Glee" are in good hands.

Aguirre-Sacasa, a veteran playwright and comic book writer, who was recently brought in to fix the disastrous "Spider-Man" musical, has just been hired as a writer-producer for "Glee" and as screenwriter for the upcoming remake of "Carrie," reported Deadline.

Word is that Aguirre-Sacasa plans to do for "Carrie" what the Coen Brothers did for "True Grit," which is to writer a screenplay that hews more closely to the source material, in this case Stephen King's novel of the same name. Aguirre-Sacasa and King already have a good relationship thanks to the former's work on the comic book adaptation of "The Dark Tower."

"Carrie" is great movie to take another crack at. Despite a great story and a killer cast--Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, John Travolta, Betty Buckley, Edie McClurg (!)-- director Brian De Palma's take is a wee campy.
