Rob Lowe has parlayed his late-season appearance on "Parks & Recreation" into a full-time gig.
Normally we feel a little weird when we find ourselves in the position of getting excited by about news of an NBC or Universal project (this is a mercifully rare occurrence). But Lowe has carved out a late-career niche playing smarmy corporate pricks to perfection, "Parks & Rec" has done a remarkable job of rebooting itself after a miserable first season and the news comes via the Twitter feed of writer Michael Schur, aka Ken Tremendous, former founding contributory of Fire Joe Morgan, which still stands as one of the greatest blogs in the medium's brief history.
Lowe just wrapped a four-year run on "Brother's and Sisters" and is currently shooting an appearance on David Duchovny's "Californication."
Lowe first appeared on the show alongside Adam Scott (of the dearly departed "Party Down") as a state auditor intent on slashing the town's budget. News that Scott had joined the cast full-time broke earlier this summer.
These are two great addition to a show that has done an admirable of honing its identity over the past year or so, and should only serve to make "Parks & Rec" better still.
We swear we're not schilling.
