It's not often that two directors as accomplished as Martin Scorsese and Roman Polanski unveil films on the same weekend, but today sees "Shutter Island," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, going up against "Ghost Writer," starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor.
A psychological thriller based on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same title, stars DiCaprio as a U.S. Marshal who, along with his partner (Mark Ruffalo) is sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a convicted murderer.
McGregor plays a man hired to help a former British Prime Minister (Brosnan) write his memoirs, only to uncover that the death of the previous scribe may have been linked to the PM's ties to the CIA.
If the trailer lived up to the promise of castmembers Parker Posey, Rip Torn and Ellen Barkin (and Demi Moore), we'd be standing in line right now, but it looks to be just another aggressively quirky indie comedy about a family in turmoil.
