Kristen Stewart wants a do-over, after comments the "Twilight" actress made to a British magazine drew the ire of advocates for rape victims.

The 20-year-old actress is quoted in the July edition of the British Elle magazine comparing paparazzi photos of herself to images of rape. The quotes got out early on the Internet and ignited a firestorm.

"What you don't see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction," Stewart said. "The photos are so ... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped.

She quickly apologized.

"I really made an enormous mistake – clearly and obviously," Stewart, currently in Korea to promote the new installment of the Twilight series Eclipse, told People magazine. "And I'm really sorry about my choice of words."

"I've made stupid remarks before, and I've always reasoned: 'Whatever. They can think what they want,' " she continued.

She said she was trying to make the point that the long lense photos were an invasion of her privacy.

"'Violated' definitely would have been a better way of expressing the thought," she said.

Stewart played a rape victim in the 2004 film "Speak." She has also done public service announcements for the advocacy group RAINN and for SOC.

"People thinking that I'm insensitive about this subject rips my guts out," she said. "I made a big mistake."
