Among the Internet's more bizarre step-children is the motion poster, a promotional work of art that, like the photos on the wall in a Harry Potter film, move while standing still. The latest specimen comes to us from "The Hunger Games."
It's basically just a flaming image of the mockingjay pin worn by the film's heroine, Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, a young girl fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world where every year kids are chosen to take part in battles to the death.
Based on the trilogy by Suzanne Collins--which will be made into four films--the first movie also stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Lenny Kravitz, and a few dozen others.
It's the next big thing from the world young-adult fiction film adaptations, eager to help fill the void with the close of "Harry Potter." "The Hunger Games" opens March 23, 2012.
