Hayden Panettiere To Take on the “Foxy Knoxy” for Lifetime

It was just a matter of time before the story of U.S. exchange student Amanda Knox, convicted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher in Italy, was made into an original drama.

Enter "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere who will take on the role of the woman known by her tabloid moniker "Foxy Knoxy."

Deadline.com reports the story of the student convicted of brutally murdering her roommate is getting the Hollywood treatment for Lifetime and will air sometime in 2011.

Following an 11-month trial, and scores of lurid personal details revealed in the press, the photogenic Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison last December.

Her boyfriend and another man were also jailed for the killing of 21-year-old exchange student in the Italian town of Perugia.

Knox has maintained her innocence and the case is still very much a hot topic in her home-state of Washington. So expect the drumbeats of her trial, labelled unfair and anti-American by many of her supporters, to start all over again.

But mostly it will make for sexy, salacious television and a killer role for Panettierre. Name a celebrity vixen and she has no doubt been linked to a Foxy Knoxy project in the past -- from Lindsay Lohan to Megan Fox and from Emily Blunt and Kristen Stewart on the other end of the acting spectrum.

The film has been tentatively call "The Amanda Knox Story." But you might imagine there will be a sexy addition or complete change to that in the months ahead.
