Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze Plotting a New Collaboration

The whacked out geniuses that brought you "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation" have a new project brewing.

Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze have been making the rounds pitching a new film, reported The LA Times. Sadly, nobody's ready divulge anything about the story. Yes, this a frustrating bit of almost-news, but it's a Friday afternoon in mid-December...

Since making his directorial debut with "Synecdoche, New York," Kaufman has been working on a script called "Frank or Francis," with a story that sounds awfully similar to Kaufman's own career path. It's about a filmmaker who begins to feel victimized by his own commercial success ("Malkovich," "Adaptation") and decides he wants to get back to his art-house roots ("Synecdoche"). That is if you accept the idea that two films that combined to make $45 million are commercial successes.
