Coachella Festival Lineup Announced

Today’s announcement brings a glimmer of hope to New Yorkers who have slushed their way through a month marred by abysmal weather. It’s time to start thinking about sunshine and palm trees because the all-star West Coast promoters Golden Voice have announced this year’s Coachella lineup.

The three-day Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicks off on Friday, April 15 and continues through Sunday, April 17. While this year’s headliners give the festival a bit of a 2010 feel, this year’s crop of talent is still the top of the indie heap. Friday’s headliner is Kings of Leon with The Black Keys, Robyn and Interpol also pulling some weight. Saturday is anchored by Arcade Fire along with Animal Collective and 2010 breakout artist Mumford and Sons. Sunday is the only night with a pair of top line artists with Kanye West and The Strokes bringing the festival to a close. The final day also boasts heavy hitters like Duran Duran, The National, PJ Harvey and the reunited Death From Above 1979.

There is also a fair share of new artists to discover this year. Let me recommend checking out UK songstress Clare Maguire on Friday, blue grass torchbearers Trampled By Turtles on Saturday and white hot newbie Foster the People on Sunday. If its dance music you crave, then don’t miss The Chemical Brothers, Cut Copy and A-Trak on Friday, Scissor Sisters on Saturday and make sure to catch Chromeo and Duck Sauce on Sunday.

Whatever your poison – Coachella will satisfy it so book your flights now and get ready for the summer jump off.
