Brooke Shields' turn in the fall’s L.A. production of the musical Leap of Faith (yep, based on the 1992 Steve Martin movie) with tasty Raul Esparza didn’t inspire critics to imagine great things ahead for her singing career (like, say, whether she’d star in the show once it landed on Broadway, which is still the plan for fall 2011).

So her upcoming performances at cozy cabaret room Feinstein's (February 1-12) should be an interesting experiment in seeing whether she can hold her own with a tune. We think she can probably pull it off, based on charm and wit for starters. Maybe she'll even whip out some Ice Cube. Problem is, it costs at least $100 to find out. Hm.

Brooke Shields at Feinstein's at Loews Regency, 540 Park Avenue, 212-339-4095. Tuesday, February 1-Saturday, February 12, 14 performances. Times vary, check website for details. From $70 plus $25 food/drink minimum, tickets available here.
