Vetiver Announce CT Show, New Album

Not going to SXSW? Folk favorites Vetiver are making the trip, but they’ll also swing much closer to Manhattan at the culmination of their March mini-tour.

Along with their ambitiously slated five shows in four days at the Austin festival, the San Francisco group have also charted an East Coast road trip that begins tonight at the Metro Gallery in Baltimore and concludes at the Space in Hamden, Conn., March 26. (Tickets are $12 and available online.)

The last time the group headlined a major New York show was their 2009 Bowery Ballroom gig with the Antlers--so a short train ride to outer North Haven doesn’t sound too bad in comparison, eh? (No word on if New York's own eccentric folk scion, Devendra Banhart, will sit in with the band, as he does frequently.)

There’s a reason for their Tracy Flick-like hustle: Sub Pop announced Thursday that the ramshackle folk troupe will release their fifth album, The Errant Charm, on June 14. The disc was inspired by frontman Andy Cabic’s long walks through San Francisco’s Richmond District, so anticipate a new, meandering sense of purpose to their loosely hewn jamming.
