Curated and hosted by Lincoln Center, the Target-sponsored series Free Thursdays draws some pretty nifty talent. Tonight, the vibe will be decidedly 1930s Paris: The gypsy jazz ensemble Hot Club of San Francisco decamp their home coast to breathe new life into the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s Hot Club de France, right down to mirroring their instrumentation: Violin, bass and guitars. Though they don’t go so far as missing fingers like Reinhardt—who would have turned 100 this year—but we’ll let that slide, and no, that’s not a guitar pun.
Hot Club of San Francisco play Target Free Thursdays, David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Thursday, November 18, 8:30PM, $Free.
