Stately New York rockers the Walkmen will join the Fleet Foxes for a North American tour beginning Sept. 6 in the Foxes’ hometown of Seattle and includes a show at the Williamsburg Waterfront on Sept. 24.
For all the critical acclaim of their records, the Walkmen benefit immensely from a live setting. Like fellow Brooklynite and master of lament, the National's Matt Berninger, Walkmen leader Hamilton Leithauser delivers an intensely felt live vocal (typically in well-tailored duds). And drummer Matt Barrick raises a hellacious clatter that has to be felt to be believed.
The Walkmen’s tour dates with the Foxes are below. While you’re at it, take a second to check out Leithauser and co. performing “Angela Surf City,” a standout from their 2010 LP Lisbon, at Bonnaroo last weekend.
