There aren't many voices that instantly telegraph yuletide, but Ronnie Spector – who, with the Ronettes and producer/then-husband Phil Spector, recorded some of the most memorable holiday tunes in the canon – is one of them. As she readies to sing some of her classics as the headliner at the South Street Seaport tree lighting tonight, the Harlem native ran down her favorite songs of the season.
Stevie Wonder, “Someday at Christmas”
I love this song so much. The lyrics are so heavy, but Stevie sings with such hope and optimism, and really captures the spirit.
