Quickies: Play Hooky Today, See P-Funk at Lunch

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic don’t mess around: The last time the dreadlocked éminence grise of funk played B.B. King’s there were 25 band members on stage.

So it’s nearly criminal that Clinton and P-Funk are playing their show – part of BAM’s free, outdoor R&B Festival at MetroTech -- at noon on a Thursday.

Then again, the heat’s cooled off, the sun is shining… may we suggest taking a personal day? Also, knowing the band’s penchant for epic, endless jam sessions, this could turn into an evening gig after all.

Upcoming shows in BAM’s free Thursday lunchtime R&B series include Dionne Ferris and a tribute to the New Orleans treme sound with the Mardi Gras Indians and sax man Cyril Neville.

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Thursday June 2, 12 p.m., on the lawn at MetroTech Commons, located in Downtown Brooklyn at the corner of Flatbush and Myrtle Avenues.
