Few movies get fancy listening parties for their soundtracks at boutique hotels—especially not 3-D sequels to early-1980s sci-fi flops with Bruce Boxleitner “reprising” his role (okay, Jeff Bridges too)—but then the music of TRON: Legacy is not your standard-issue soundtrack: It’s made up of 22 brand new tracks from Daft Punk, evidently so in the tank for TRON that they agreed to take it on as their first film score, assembled an orchestra of 100 musicians in London to record it, and even cameo as DJs in the movie itself. The soundtrack has its own website, people.
The soundtrack is out December 7, and the movie is in theaters December 17. You, meanwhile, can be sipping open-bar Svedka Vodka (the sponsor) lit by the glowing floor of the Hudson Bar as DJ Chino plays the music for the first time in public.
TRON: Legacy Soundtrack Listening Party presented by Svedka Vodka and Giant Step. Thursday, December 2, 9PM, The Hudson at Hudson Hotel, 356 West 58th Street; 212-554-6000. Entrance is free, but RSVP only.
