Singer Elle Varner
Starting any song off with Suzanne Vega's hypnotic hook from "Tom's Diner" -- you know, that "do, do, do, do" song -- is tried and true yet somehow remains a plus. Lamenting about a past love, Varner sings, "I won't forget you, I don't regret you, but all I want is him now. Now that he's gone." The song weaves Varner's vocals in with the original version laced with interpolations of Vega's 90's throwback.
At New York University, where Varner claimed a coveted spot in the Clive Davis Program of Recorded Music, her classmates voted her "most likely to win a Grammy" and "most likely to get signed."
